PROJECT: Featherbrook House

TYPE: Residential

LOCATION: Wiltshire

SERVICE: RIBA work stages 0-7

STATUS: Completed 2010

Featherbrook House, completed in 2010 is the home of PKA’s Founding Director Peter and his wife Clare, and the office for PKA Architects.

There are 5 buildings on the site, which replaced an unsightly jumble of asbestos clad barns formerly used as a Turkey Farm.

The house and office wings are joined by an unheated link, allowing flexible independent use. The two main outbuildings provide workshop space, as well as car and general storage, and are used to mount photo-voltaic panels. The fifth building is an Orangery and potting shed.

The house has been designed as a whole life dwelling, with bedrooms on both floors and a galleried upper floor living area making the most of the 5.5m internal heights to ridge upstairs.
